Based in the Netherlands and travelling across Europe and the USA, Sim Sawyers approaches weddings with a love of romance, theatre, and real-life moments that unfold without warning. She takes on a limited number of celebrations each year, balancing wedding commissions with her work in motherhood photography — something that naturally shapes how she sees family dynamics and the role children play on a wedding day.
“I capture fairytale moments for couples hopelessly in love,” she says. “My romantic and magical photography style is influenced by my love of romantic fairytales, Bollywood dramas, and the myths of antiquity.”
Her style blends documentary storytelling with a fine art sensibility. The result is imagery that feels emotionally honest but visually striking — photographs that feel recognisable and cinematic at the same time. “My approach to photographing your wedding blends documentary-style storytelling with fine art details for a collection that will have you saying both ‘That feels just like us!’ and ‘Wow, we look like we should be in a magazine!’”
On the day itself, Sim moves fluidly between observer and guide. She knows when to step back and when to step in. “When I’m your wedding photographer, I am there to take beautiful photos, but that’s not all I do. I will be with you throughout your entire wedding day, sometimes quietly letting a moment unfold, sometimes directing family group photos, and sometimes on stage with your band getting photos of you two rocking out at 2am with your closest friends.”
Coverage ranges from intimate civil ceremonies in the city to multi-day destination celebrations, with up to 14 hours of shooting available. Couples can expect a next-day sneak peek and full gallery delivery within four weeks. Luxury albums and pre-wedding portrait sessions are included across most collections, with a second shooter available if needed.
