A Timeless White Wedding on the Shores of Bali
Photographed by Sweet Summer Bali
When Maddie and Ante returned to Padma Resort Legian, it wasn’t just for the breathtaking views or the tropical setting—it was to stand on the very lawn where they had gotten engaged two years before. “Ante and I chose to get married in Bali, as it holds such a special place in our hearts—it’s where we got engaged. In fact, it happened on the lawn at the Padma, overlooking the ocean. So when it came time to plan the wedding, the decision was simple: return to the exact same spot,” the bride shared.
The couple, who built their life together in Sydney with their little dog Otis, wanted their wedding to feel like a natural continuation of their story. “We met almost five years ago and have since built a beautiful life together in Sydney. We share a home and a little dog named Otis, so for us, getting married felt like a natural extension of the life we’ve already created.” The choice to gather family and friends in Bali added meaning to a celebration that already felt deeply personal.
White florals cascaded across the ceremony backdrop, creating a modern yet soft design that framed the couple beautifully. The aisle was lined with roses, orchids, and hydrangeas, bringing layers of texture to the garden setting. Against the backdrop of the Indian Ocean, the understated drapery and candlelit details made the ceremony space feel both intimate and expansive—an aesthetic inspiration for any couple dreaming of a destination wedding in Bali.
Dinner was held under a canopy of lights, with long banquet tables styled in crisp white linens and minimalist black accents. Each setting carried a handwritten name card and tied napkin detail, balancing contemporary design with a personal touch. From the ceremony altar to the reception tablescape, the event design shows how refined simplicity can feel extraordinary. As the evening continued, the celebrations unfolded with joy, laughter, and dancing. Guests gathered around as the couple cut into a three-tier cake, its vintage piping illuminated by glowing candlelight. Looking back, Maddie shared what made the day so memorable: “We’re both very family- and career-oriented, but we also share a deep love of travel. A destination wedding felt like the perfect way to bring our favourite people together—with everyone in holiday mode, it really was the best of everything.”
