Novanta 90 is a restored Tuscan village wedding venue set high in the Casentino Hills, on the edge of the Casentino National Park. Once the abandoned Borgo di Gello, the hamlet has been revived into an experience-led hotel and retreat, where stone houses, forest paths, terraces, ruins and valley views shape the feeling of a full village takeover. Weddings here are not centred on one polished event room, but on the rhythm of several days spent together: poolside aperitivo, open-air dinners, pizza nights, hikes, long tables and late parties in candlelit spaces. With accommodation and event capacity for up to 120, Novanta is made for couples who want Tuscany to feel communal, relaxed and deeply lived-in.

Ceremonies
Ceremonies at Novanta are defined by landscape, ruins and the feeling of being far from anything ordinary. The venue is not licensed for civil ceremonies, so couples usually complete the legal paperwork elsewhere and host a symbolic ceremony, blessing or vow renewal on site. The in-house planning team helps shape the ceremony as part of a wider multi-day programme, managing timelines, suppliers and the flow between the village’s different spaces.
The Amphitheatre
A panoramic open-air setting carved into the hillside, with views across the Casentino Valley. It brings a sense of scale without feeling formal.
La Rota
The largest ruin on the estate, offering a dramatic stone backdrop for vows or open-air dining. It has a raw, architectural quality that suits minimal styling.
The Orchard and Summer Garden
A softer ceremony setting surrounded by greenery, fruit trees and seasonal planting. It works well for more intimate vows or sunset aperitivo afterwards.
El Paddock-style open fields and terraces
For couples drawn to a wilder outdoor atmosphere, the estate’s higher terraces and open spaces bring wider views, rougher edges and late-afternoon light.
Late-day ceremonies are especially suited to Novanta, when the hills soften and the village begins to shift naturally into dinner and evening celebration.

Receptions
Receptions at Novanta 90 are shaped by the feeling of taking over a village. The celebration can move between ruins, gardens, the saltwater pool, barns, terraces and long communal tables, with each setting bringing a different pace to the day.
Aperitivo often takes place by the pool or on one of the terraces, before dinner unfolds outdoors at La Fattoria, La Rota or another village setting. La Tettoia, a timber and glass pavilion, provides a useful all-weather option for dinner or dancing, while the converted barns and indoor spaces bring warmth, candlelight and music later in the evening.
Novanta works especially well for multi-day celebrations because each event can feel different without needing a new venue: pizza night at Il Casale, a Tuscan BBQ, a wedding banquet beneath lights, a poolside brunch or a river farewell. With no close neighbours, late nights are part of the appeal, though timings and music plans should still be agreed with the team.
The overall feeling is relaxed but considered: rustic spaces, strong food, generous hospitality and a party that grows naturally from the setting.
Staying on Site
Staying at Novanta means living across a restored Tuscan hamlet rather than checking into a conventional hotel. Across around 44 bedrooms, split between Borgo di Gello and Castello di Gello, the estate can host up to 120 guests.
Rooms and suites combine stone walls, terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and simple, characterful interiors. Most have private bathrooms, and many look out towards forest, valley or village paths. The style is rustic and comfortable rather than overly polished, which suits the feeling of being in a lived-in hamlet.
The two villages are linked by a scenic walk of around 15 minutes, with 4×4 shuttles available for luggage or less mobile guests. Flexible room layouts make it easier for families and groups to stay together, while the car-free village setting keeps the atmosphere calm.
The accommodation is central to the experience: guests wake up in the same village, share breakfast, drift between activities and gather again each evening without losing the feeling of privacy.

Food & Atmosphere
Food at Novanta 90 is part of the stay, not just the wedding day. The in-house chef team works with local producers, estate gardens and nearby farms to create generous Tuscan meals shaped by seasonality, simplicity and the surrounding landscape.
The food plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, giving the wedding the rhythm of a shared holiday. Meals might include handmade pasta, wood-fired pizza, Tuscan cheeses and cured meats, seasonal vegetables, slow-cooked local meat, river brunches, BBQs or long communal dinners beneath lights.
Drinks follow the same informal, generous spirit. Local wines, prosecco, beer and soft drinks are available throughout the stay, while the honesty bar lets guests help themselves, write down what they take and settle later.
This is food as gathering: a pizza night before the wedding, coffee on a terrace, Chianti by the pool, a long dinner after sunset and breakfast the next morning with everyone still on site.
