Inside a Cinematic Wedding Editorial at Fontsanta Hotel, Mallorca

Photographed by MADEINVIDEO

The editorial unfolds quietly, as if the day has only just begun. At Fontsanta Hotel Thermal Spa & Wellness, the atmosphere feels unhurried — stone walls warmed by light, open skies, and a landscape defined by olive trees, palms, and lavender fields. For MADEINVIDEO, the setting offered more than a backdrop. “We have spent the past 14 years capturing weddings across the Mediterranean,” they explain, “and its light, landscapes, and way of life have deeply shaped our visual language.” This editorial reads as an exploration of that influence, seen through calm compositions and soft tonal shifts rather than spectacle.

The story imagines a couple waking up on their wedding day surrounded by nature — morning preparations unfolding across terraces and stone interiors, with no rush to arrive anywhere else. The styling mirrors the setting: restrained, textural, and responsive to the architecture rather than competing with it. It’s the kind of scene that reflects why couples are drawn to marrying in Mallorca, where venues often shape the rhythm of the celebration as much as the schedule itself — a thought that naturally leads into exploring the island as a destination, and the spaces that make weddings here feel so distinctive.

Before the ceremony, the editorial introduces a pre-wedding dinner — a nod to the rise of multi-day celebrations. A long table is styled simply, placed within the landscape rather than framed against it. “We wanted to portray a relaxed, intimate dinner scene,” the team shares, “reflecting the choices many couples make when marrying in Mallorca: décor that enhances the space without overpowering it.” The result feels sociable and informal, the kind of evening that sets the tone for the days that follow, rather than trying to outshine them.

Ceremony moments are split between two worlds. Indoors, the on-site church is pared back to its essentials — stone, shadow, and candlelight. The absence of heavy decoration allows the architecture to hold its own. Outdoors, the mood shifts. A large fabric installation becomes the altar, introducing movement and softness against the sky. This textile element doesn’t disappear after the ceremony; instead, it becomes a recurring visual thread, reappearing in different forms as the day evolves.

Portraits are captured in the gentle Mediterranean light, where green tones and organic textures quietly dominate the frame. There’s no sense of performance here — just a focus on how bodies and fabrics interact with space. Later, the editorial pivots. As evening falls, the dinner scene becomes richer and more expressive. “Unlike the simplicity of the pre-wedding table, the banquet was intentionally layered,” MADEINVIDEO note, with textiles by Mia Sylvia, florals, and candlelight building depth without tipping into excess.

Night brings a cinematic shift. Flash photography introduces contrast and drama, referencing classic film stills rather than modern party imagery. The final moment draws everything together: the ceremony fabric is transformed into a screen, onto which fragments of vintage cinema are projected during the cake cutting. “A poetic fusion of old cinema and the wedding film being created in real time,” they reflect — a closing scene that feels thoughtful and referential, and a reminder of how venues like Fontsanta can support an entire wedding narrative within one place. It’s easy to imagine couples discovering this editorial while browsing venues across the island, and seeing how space, styling, and storytelling can align when the setting is allowed to lead.
