Oksana Savenchuk is a Rome-based wedding photographer, originally from Ukraine and settled in Italy for more than six years. She works across the country’s villas and coastlines, from Tuscany and Lake Como to the Amalfi Coast, Sicily and Puglia, and travels throughout Europe. In fourteen years she has photographed over three hundred weddings.
“My style is elegant, timeless, and classic,” Oksana says. Her work sits closer to the editorial end of wedding photography than the documentary end, built on composed portraiture and a controlled, unhurried eye.
Her range with light is the unusual part. “I work confidently with all types of light,” she says, “soft, harsh sunlight, backlight, and flash.” That matters at an Italian wedding, where a ceremony can run in full midday glare and dinner can end by candlelight in a frescoed hall. Her editing stays with natural, luxurious tones and delicate skin retouching.

On the day she moves between direction and observation, and wants both. Posed portraits give her the composition and the light she is after; the unguarded hours between them give her everything the portraits cannot reach.
Her favourite stretch of the day is the one most couples think of as preamble. “The getting ready moments,” she explains, “it’s the perfect time for clean, artistic portraits and creative shots.” She names the first look and the ceremony as the emotional peaks, but it is the quiet morning hours she plans for.
Her work has been published by Vogue and Carats and Cakes. Much of it is made inside Italy’s historic villas, rooms with painted ceilings, gilt mirrors and very little natural light, which is where that confidence with flash and backlight stops being a technical note and starts showing.
