Castello di San Fabiano is a privately owned 13th-century castle watching over the timeless Tuscan countryside just 15 minutes from Siena. Operating as a luxurious and authentic wedding venue, it’s ideal for couples planning a multi-day destination wedding with a relaxed and elegant vibe. The venue offers exclusive-use hire, flexible spaces for each stage of your celebration, and accommodation on-site for up to 22 guests. With room to host up to 300 for the reception, and a variety of charming indoor and outdoor settings, it’s as fitting to grand affairs as it is to intimate, family-friend celebrations that stretch across a long weekend.

San Fabiano is an estate rich history and Italian soul. Originally built as a signalling tower in the 1200s, the castle was later converted into a fortified farm and has evolved into a beautiful example of Tuscan architectural layering over the ages. Today, it offers a unique mix of medieval towers, Renaissance details, and 19th-century farm buildings, surrounded by olive trees, lemon groves, wildflowers, and sweeping parkland.

The castle’s grounds include manicured gardens, several characterful event spaces, a swimming pool with hydromassage beds, and views across the scenic Crete Senesi. Guests can stroll between lawns, courtyards, and terraces, spotting roe deer and pheasants, sipping aperitifs under jasmine arches, or lounging poolside soaking in the wonder of the estate and its countryside setting.

There are several romantic options for a ceremony at San Fabiano:

  • On-site symbolic ceremonies can be arranged in the Loggia Garden, with its amphitheatre layout and jasmine-covered arches; the Pool Garden, with views across the countryside; or the historic Courtyard with elegant arches and shaded walkways.
  • Religious ceremonies can take place on-site with permission from the local diocese, or in the nearby 9th-century village church (1km away), or in one of the many historic churches in nearby Siena.
  • Civil ceremonies are available at the village wedding hall (1km) or in Siena’s iconic city venues, just 16km from the property.

The team at San Fabiano is happy to advise on local options and guide you through legal or symbolic processes.

From aperitivo to the after-party, Castello di San Fabiano offers a variety of spaces for every stage of the celebration:

  • Welcome drinks in the Pool Garden or on the Main Square, with sunset views and relaxed vibes
  • Al fresco dinners in the Stables Garden with views of the castle walls, or under fairy lights in the Courtyard
  • Indoor dining in the Pavilion (up to 300 seated), or the atmospheric Stables (up to 80)
  • Dancing and after parties can be held either indoors or outdoors – with a late licence to 1am available on request (additional fee)
  • Post-wedding brunches or pizza nights by the pool or in the gardens

Bar and catering services are flexible: you’re free to bring in your preferred teams or choose from the owners’ recommendations, which include local chefs from Siena and Florence. There’s no corkage charge, and the bar can be fully staffed with the professional service of your choice.

The castle itself can sleep up to 22 guests in a collection of individually designed rooms and suites, each filled with family antiques, artworks, and Tuscan charm. But this is more than just a place to sleep — it’s a home base for your celebration. During a multi-day stay, guests can enjoy shared lounges, a reading room, shaded terraces for lazy mornings, and communal dining areas that make casual get-togethers and late-night chats just as special as the big day itself.

Beyond the main castle, there are additional guest accommodations in neighbouring villas and farmhouses on the estate, perfect for overflow guests or families wanting a little extra privacy. Everything is within walking distance and surrounded by gardens, olive groves, and peaceful countryside views.

Rooms include:

  • Deluxe Rooms such as Lady Beatrice and The Ambassador, with wrought-iron beds and silk curtains
  • Double Suites like The Painter and The Gamekeeper, ideal for couples or small families
  • Classic Rooms such as Lady Lavinia, with romantic views and vintage details

All rooms feature modern bathrooms, climate control, and unique decor that reflects the estate’s layered history. Breakfast is included daily, with homemade cakes, jams, and Tuscan produce served either on the terrace or in the castle dining room.

Whether you’re planning a long table banquet under the stars or a lively garden buffet scene, weddings at San Fabiano are as much about the joy of gathering, and enjoying out of this world food, as they are about the setting. The venue works with exceptional local chefs and catering teams to deliver seasonal, personalised menus rich with the bold, rustic flavours of Tuscany.

Guests might start with aperitifs and antipasti served among the lemon trees, followed by a long, leisurely dinner in the Pavilion or courtyard. There’s the option to host a pizza night using the estate’s wood-fired oven (always a crowd-pleaser) and to add flourishes like a gelato cart, dessert tables, or late-night bites to keep the energy high into the evening.

The drinks setup is entirely flexible: you can bring your own wine and spirits (with no corkage fees), hire a professional bar team, or let the venue recommend a trusted service. From elegant cocktails and Tuscan reds to casual prosecco toasts, the focus is on what suits your style and budget best.

San Fabiano is perfect for destination weddings that feel like an Italian getaway. Guests can take part in a range of on-site experiences or head out to explore Tuscany.
