Ceremonies
Ceremonies at Castello di Velona are defined by height, landscape and history. The castle’s position above the Val d’Orcia gives each setting a sense of openness, while the estate’s architecture keeps the experience anchored in place rather than purely scenic.
Civil, symbolic and religious ceremonies are supported, with an in-house planning team available to assist with paperwork, logistics, styling, lighting and technical setup.
Panoramic Terraces
The most expansive ceremony setting, with open views across vineyards and the Val d’Orcia. Suitable for civil or symbolic ceremonies of up to 250 guests, it gives larger gatherings a sense of scale without losing the atmosphere of the castle.
Pool Terrace Suite
A more private option for smaller ceremonies of up to 60 guests. Set around a private thermal pool and panoramic terrace, it feels secluded, elevated and closely connected to the landscape.
Sant’Antimo Abbey
Located around five minutes from the estate, this Romanesque abbey with 9th-century origins offers a historic setting for religious ceremonies. It brings a more traditional and spiritually resonant dimension to the wedding day.
The ceremony options feel meaningfully different: open-air grandeur, private terrace intimacy, or the architectural stillness of a nearby abbey.

Receptions
A wedding at Castello di Velona feels expansive, polished and landscape-led. The estate is designed for celebrations that unfold across several days, with terraces, dining rooms, lounges, pools and spa spaces all contributing to the rhythm of the stay.
The first drinks moment often belongs to the terraces. Guests can gather for aperitivi as the light moves across the vineyards below, with the castle creating a strong architectural frame around the view. It is a natural opening to the evening: social, open and immediately Tuscan.
Dinner can take place outdoors on the terraces or inside the stone-walled dining spaces, depending on season, guest count and the desired mood. The outdoor settings bring the landscape into the meal, while the interiors offer a more enclosed, historic atmosphere for a formal reception or gala dinner.
As the evening shifts, the celebration can move into the Velona Lounge for music and dancing, or continue in a more relaxed poolside atmosphere. Outdoor and indoor options give the event team flexibility to shape the energy of the night without losing the character of the estate.
The following day, the celebration can soften into brunch on the lawns, wood-fired pizzas by the pool, spa time or a slower recovery with guests staying on site. Castello di Velona’s strength is that the wedding does not have to feel compressed into one day; the venue has enough depth to hold the whole experience.
Staying on Site
Accommodation is one of Castello di Velona’s strongest features, with 45 rooms and suites sleeping up to 115 guests. The estate combines traditional castle accommodation with more contemporary wellness-led suites, giving guests a choice of atmosphere while keeping everyone close to the wedding experience.
Monumental Castle Rooms and Suites
Set within the original medieval structure, these rooms lean into the estate’s historic character, with vaulted ceilings, cotto floors, period furniture and views across the valley.
UNESCO View Rooms and Suites
More contemporary in style, these rooms and suites are positioned for privacy and landscape views, with private terraces or gardens. Bathtubs use natural thermal spring water, and many suites include in-room treatment areas.
Signature Suites, Apartments and Pool Terrace Suite
Larger layouts suit families, wedding parties or VIP guests, with some offering multiple bedrooms, separate living spaces, private pools or expansive terraces. The Pool Terrace Suite, set in the south tower, is the most private option, with its own thermal plunge pool overlooking the vineyards.
All rooms include access to the estate’s thermal waters, making the stay feel connected to the wider resort experience rather than simply a place to sleep.

Food & Atmosphere
Dining at Castello di Velona is place-led, shaped by Tuscan produce, estate-grown olive oil and Brunello di Montalcino wines. The food experience supports the wider pace of a multi-day wedding, with enough variety for formal dinners, relaxed poolside meals and smaller private gatherings.
Settimo Senso offers panoramic views across the Val d’Orcia and works well for a more formal wedding dinner. Dolce Vita, beside the thermal pools, brings a more relaxed Mediterranean mood for welcome lunches, poolside meals or pizza parties. Il Brunello Gourmet is more intimate, suited to private dinners, wine pairings or rehearsal meals, while Velona Lounge, set within the castle cloister, hosts breakfasts and lighter all-day dining.
Outdoor dining can also be arranged across the terraces and gardens, from brunches and barbecues to vineyard-side aperitivi, truffle tastings and bespoke events.
The bar offering includes signature cocktails, Italian and international wine lists, open bar packages and custom drinks stations, such as a Negroni bar, Tuscan spritz service or grappa tasting table. The overall dining experience feels refined, regional and generous, with each meal placed deliberately within the estate.
