Infante Sagres is a five-star wedding venue in Porto, set in the city’s historic centre and shaped by heritage interiors, urban ease and classic hotel service. Opened in 1951 as Porto’s first five-star hotel, it offers a more intimate city wedding setting than a resort or country estate, with chandeliers, grand staircases, salons, a courtyard patio and 85 guest rooms under one roof. Weddings here work especially well for couples who want the atmosphere of Porto around them: nearby chapels, cobbled streets, restaurants, river views and cultural landmarks, with the comfort of a refined hotel base for the celebration.

Weddings & settings

Ceremonies

Ceremonies at Infante Sagres are best understood through the hotel’s city setting. Many couples choose to hold their official ceremony at one of Porto’s nearby churches or historic sites, such as Sé Cathedral or Igreja de São Francisco, before returning to the hotel for drinks, dinner and the evening celebration.

For symbolic ceremonies, blessings or vow renewals, the hotel’s interiors offer a more private alternative within the historic centre. The on-site wedding team can support layout, supplier coordination and timing, helping the ceremony feel considered without losing the character of the building.

Dona Filipa Room

The hotel’s grandest event room, with chandeliers, ornate wood detailing and tall windows. It offers the most formal indoor setting for a symbolic ceremony.

Smaller Salons

Rooms such as Ceuta and Dom Sebastião suit more intimate blessings, private moments or pre-wedding gatherings.

Courtyard Patio

Shared with Scarlett Porto Wine & Food, the patio brings an open-air city feel to smaller ceremonies, cocktails or welcome drinks.

The ceremony experience here is less about countryside scale and more about Porto itself: historic architecture, walkable streets and a polished hotel setting at the centre of the day.

Receptions

Receptions at Infante Sagres are shaped by the hotel’s compact city layout. Rather than moving across a large estate, the celebration unfolds between the main event room, restaurant, courtyard and lounges, keeping the experience elegant and easy for guests.

The Dona Filipa Room is the main reception space, measuring 135 square metres and hosting up to 90 seated guests or 130 for a standing cocktail-style event. With chandeliers, wood detailing and natural light from tall windows, it suits wedding banquets, private dinners and evening celebrations with a classic hotel atmosphere.

For smaller events, the Ceuta Room accommodates up to 12 guests, while the Dom Sebastião Room works for private dinners or brunches of up to 20. The courtyard patio offers a useful open-air setting for arrival drinks, cocktails or a lighter late-evening moment.

Scarlett Porto Wine & Food can also be partially or fully reserved, giving couples a more contemporary restaurant-led option for dinners, welcome events or farewell brunches. The hotel’s events team can support menu choices, open bar service, dessert or cheese tables, entertainment, styling and late-night food.

Staying on Site

Infante Sagres offers 85 individually designed rooms and suites, allowing wedding guests to stay within the same city-centre hotel as the celebration. This is especially useful for destination weddings in Porto, where guests can explore the city independently while remaining close to the main event spaces.

Superior, Deluxe and Premium Rooms

These rooms range from compact city stays to larger rooms with courtyard or street views. Interiors combine soft tones, rich textures and classic hotel detailing.

Junior Suites and Premium Suite

These suites offer more space, with lounge areas and upgraded bathrooms. The Premium Suite includes a separate living room, bathtub and walk-in shower.

Royal Suite

The hotel’s largest suite, with 93 square metres of space, a four-poster bed, heritage décor and an expansive living area.

Room blocks and group rates can be arranged for wedding parties. Guests also have access to concierge services, 24-hour room service, the plunge pool and sundeck.

Food & Atmosphere

Food at Infante Sagres is centred around Scarlett Porto Wine & Food, the hotel’s in-house restaurant and bar. The dining style brings together Portuguese ingredients and French influence, giving weddings a restaurant-led quality rather than a standard hotel banquet feel.

Wedding menus may include multi-course dinners, buffets, canapés, cocktail receptions, welcome meals or post-wedding brunches. The culinary and events teams can shape the format around the scale of the celebration, whether the dinner takes place in the Dona Filipa Room, Scarlett’s dining room or the courtyard patio.

Scarlett can host up to 80 guests for formal receptions and offers a more contemporary setting for smaller wedding meals, wine-led dinners or relaxed gatherings. The sommelier team can support wine pairings, while the bar can provide cocktails, champagne service and late-night drinks.

The atmosphere is polished but urban: good food, warm service and the feeling of being right in the middle of Porto.
