House Boheme is a bohemian, art-forward mountain venue created and designed by artists in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Set across 22 acres with panoramic views of Mt. Mitchell and nearby Hickory Nut Gorge, this exclusive-hire estate blends forest trails, waterfalls, sculptural florals and globally sourced décor. Ideal for couples seeking a creative, immersive destination wedding, it offers privacy, personality and space to celebrate without limits.

House Boheme was conceived as an artist-designed oasis for creatives, lovers and trailblazers. Located in the foothills of Appalachia near Rutherfordton, North Carolina, the property spans 22 acres of lush landscape, forested trails, a creek and two waterfalls. Long mountain views stretch toward Mt. Mitchell, while fruit trees and gardens frame open green spaces designed for gathering.

Architecture and interiors reflect a globally influenced, bohemian aesthetic. The main abode pairs soaring glass doors, exposed beams and expansive mountain-facing patios with curated art, handmade ceramics and Moroccan glassware. The atmosphere feels expressive yet relaxed — ideal for couples who want a wedding that prioritises creativity, connection and experience.

House Boheme is available for exclusive hire. There is no minimum stay requirement, with options ranging from single-day celebrations to multi-day retreats. The maximum event capacity is 125 guests. On-site accommodation sleeps up to 20 guests across six bedrooms within the main residence and additional private suites.

House Boheme offers three distinct outdoor ceremony settings, each shaped by the surrounding mountains and woodland.

  • Mountain View Overlook – Positioned on the sprawling covered patio, this setting frames wide-open views across the Blue Ridge, with integrated wood hearth and direct access to indoor spaces.
  • Two-Acre Meadow – A vast open field with panoramic mountain views, ideal for larger guest counts or couples envisioning a tented celebration.
  • Garden Peninsula – A 12,000-square-foot green space bordered by fruit trees and gardens, offering intimacy while still accommodating substantial setups.

The venue is not licensed for legally binding ceremonies, but symbolic and celebrant-led ceremonies are welcomed, including same-sex weddings. There are no religious facilities on site.

An on-site planner/coordinator supports couples throughout the planning process and on the day itself, assisting with logistics, vendor liaison and flow. Up to two on-site vendor liaisons are available during events. Couples also have access to the property prior to their event for rehearsals and private photography sessions.

For couples seeking a cohesive visual concept, House Boheme offers in-house floral and design services. Their collective of artists specialises in floral sculpture art, ikebana-style arrangements and large-scale installations, with a focus on sourcing local florals from Western North Carolina. All-inclusive floral packages are available, alongside à la carte options.

In-house photography packages are also available, rooted in a documentary-style approach with optional 35mm film coverage.

Receptions at House Boheme unfold fluidly across indoor and outdoor spaces. Cocktail hour can take place on the covered patio with mountain views, in the gardens among fruit trees, or via sliding kitchen pass-through windows for seamless bar service.

Dinner is typically hosted al fresco beneath 240 feet of commercial-grade brass string lights, using the venue’s poplar wood farmhouse tables and matching benches. For larger celebrations, the garden peninsula offers ample space for tent installations with access to power and water hook-ups.

As evening settles, guests can transition to the speakeasy-style bar and lounge. With 11-foot ceilings, exposed steel I-beams, wine fridges, beer taps, indoor and outdoor Sonos sound systems, and sliding glass doors opening to a 1,000-square-foot flagstone patio, it is designed for late-night dancing. There is no curfew, and fireworks are permitted.

All tables, seating, dishware, glassware, cutlery and linens for up to 100 guests are included, alongside curated bohemian décor, tropical plants and artist-made ceramics. The venue provides Sonos speakers throughout the property.

The House Boheme Abode sleeps 12+ within the main residence, with additional private suites bringing total on-site capacity to approximately 20 guests across six bedrooms.

The Honeymoon Suite features lofted ceilings, large windows with mountain views, a bamboo chaise lounge and library nook, and a spa-style bathroom with clawfoot tub and walk-in stone shower.

The Bridal Suite is designed for preparation, with abundant natural light, a balcony overlooking the vista, expansive mirrors, portable dress rack, bar cart and champagne on arrival. An attached spa bathroom includes double sinks and a rain shower with mountain views.

Additional bedrooms and bathrooms are distributed across the property, along with a Zen room for reading and relaxation. Wi-Fi is available throughout. A groom’s suite and lounge with garden access is located within the bar building.

The estate layout allows close family and friends to stay on site, creating a true multi-day wedding experience immersed in nature.

House Boheme works from a recommended list of catering suppliers. Caterers have access to a walk-through triple-car garage with commercial fridge, three-bin sink, flower fridge and preparation space, supporting professional-level service.

The speakeasy bar and two-storey open-air outdoor bar provide striking service areas, with wine fridges, beer taps, dishwasher, sink and ice maker already installed.
