A Stylish City Wedding at Infante Sagres in the Heart of Porto

Photographed by Filipe Montes Photography

In the historic center of Porto, Diana and Daniel gathered their closest family and friends for an intimate wedding at Infante Sagres. The couple chose a civil ceremony that felt relaxed and meaningful, unfolding within the hotel’s bright courtyard and richly detailed interiors. Set in one of the city’s most iconic hotels, the day reflected the rhythm of a city wedding—compact, stylish, and surrounded by architecture that quietly tells its own story. For couples planning a celebration in Portugal, Porto continues to offer a compelling mix of history, design, and atmosphere.

The morning began slowly inside the hotel suites. Diana slipped into a sleek gown paired with a soft cape and pearl choker, while Daniel prepared in a navy suit with a green tie. Diana’s bouquet, made of sculptural anthuriums and fresh greenery, echoed the modern simplicity of her look.

Guests gathered in the tiled courtyard where rows of black chairs faced a small ceremony table framed by olive trees and floral arrangements. As Diana walked down the aisle, the space felt intimate and calm, with family seated close enough to witness every smile and exchange. “They chose a simple and meaningful civil ceremony,” explains photographer Filipe Montes.

After exchanging vows, the couple incorporated a handfasting ritual, where their hands were gently bound with braided cords. “A symbolic tradition where their hands were bound with ribbons, representing the union of two lives,” Filipe recalls. The close-up moment—hands intertwined with the colored cords—became one of the most emotional images of the day.

Throughout the afternoon, the hotel’s interiors became part of the visual story. Diana and Daniel moved through the building’s sweeping staircase beneath a stained-glass dome, pausing for portraits along the red-carpeted steps and carved railings. The contrast between the contemporary bridal look and the historic setting gave the images a distinctive energy—modern yet rooted in the character of Porto. For couples considering a wedding in Portugal, spaces like Infante Sagres show how city venues can feel both atmospheric and intimate.

The celebration continued with quiet moments between the newlyweds—walking through the corridors together, sharing glances on the staircase, and slipping away briefly from their guests. Their wedding never tried to be elaborate; instead it focused on the people closest to them and the city where the day unfolded. Porto’s layered architecture, tiled courtyards, and historic hotels continue to make it one of the most compelling destinations for couples exploring wedding venues across Portugal.
