House Boheme is an artist-designed mountain wedding venue in North Carolina, created for celebrations that feel expressive, immersive and visually considered. Set across 22 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Rutherfordton, the estate brings together long views toward Mt. Mitchell, forest trails, waterfalls, sculptural florals and globally sourced interiors. The atmosphere is creative without feeling overly styled: exposed beams, wide glass doors, mountain-facing patios, handmade ceramics, Moroccan glassware and art-led details throughout. Available for exclusive hire, House Boheme suits couples looking for privacy, personality and a destination wedding setting with a distinct point of view rather than a traditional estate format.

Ceremonies
Ceremonies at House Boheme are shaped by open mountain views, natural texture and a sense of space. The venue offers three outdoor settings, each with a different relationship to the landscape, from framed views on the covered patio to wider, more expansive gatherings in the meadow.
Symbolic and celebrant-led ceremonies are welcomed, including same-sex weddings. The venue is not licensed for legally binding ceremonies and does not have religious facilities on site.
Mountain View Overlook
Set on the covered patio, this ceremony space frames the Blue Ridge Mountains through the architecture of the main house, with an integrated wood hearth and easy access to the indoor rooms.
Two-Acre Meadow
An open field with panoramic mountain views, suited to larger ceremonies or celebrations that need space for a tented layout.
Garden Peninsula
A 12,000-square-foot green space bordered by fruit trees and gardens, offering a softer, more enclosed feel while still allowing room for substantial setups.
Couples are supported by an on-site planner/coordinator, with assistance across logistics, vendor liaison and the flow of the day. Access is also available before the event for rehearsals and private photography sessions.
House Boheme’s in-house floral and design team adds another layer to the ceremony experience. Their work includes floral sculpture, ikebana-style arrangements and large-scale installations, with a focus on locally sourced florals from Western North Carolina. In-house documentary-style photography packages, including optional 35mm film coverage, are also available.

Receptions
Receptions at House Boheme are defined by the way the estate moves between open-air mountain spaces and more intimate, design-led interiors. The layout supports a celebration that feels relaxed but highly considered, with drinks, dinner and dancing each given a distinct setting rather than being contained in one formal room.
The covered patio, gardens and kitchen pass-through windows create natural gathering points for drinks and informal service. Dinner is often hosted outdoors beneath 240 feet of commercial-grade brass string lights, using the venue’s poplar wood farmhouse tables and matching benches. For larger celebrations, the Garden Peninsula has space for tent installations, with power and water hook-ups available.
As the evening shifts, guests move into the speakeasy-style bar and lounge. With 11-foot ceilings, exposed steel I-beams, wine fridges, beer taps, indoor and outdoor Sonos sound systems and sliding glass doors opening onto a 1,000-square-foot flagstone patio, it gives the reception a more atmospheric late-night setting.
House Boheme hosts up to 125 guests and is available for exclusive hire. There is no curfew, fireworks are permitted, and the venue includes tables, seating, dishware, glassware, cutlery and linens for up to 100 guests, alongside curated bohemian décor, tropical plants and artist-made ceramics.
Staying on Site
Accommodation at House Boheme is designed for the closest part of the wedding party, with space for approximately 20 guests across six bedrooms in the main residence and additional private suites. The estate works especially well for couples planning a multi-day gathering, with family and friends staying close to the heart of the celebration.
The main residence sleeps 12+ guests and forms the centre of the estate, with mountain-facing living spaces, expansive patios and interiors filled with art, ceramics and globally sourced details.
Honeymoon Suite
This suite features lofted ceilings, large windows with mountain views, a bamboo chaise lounge, a library nook and a spa-style bathroom with a clawfoot tub and walk-in stone shower.
Bridal Suite
Designed for getting ready, the bridal suite includes generous natural light, a balcony overlooking the vista, expansive mirrors, a portable dress rack, a bar cart and champagne on arrival. The attached spa bathroom includes double sinks and a rain shower with mountain views.
Additional bedrooms and bathrooms are arranged across the property, alongside a Zen room for reading and relaxation. A groom’s suite and lounge with garden access sits within the bar building. Wi-Fi is available throughout.

Food & Atmosphere
The dining experience at House Boheme is shaped by flexibility and strong service infrastructure rather than a fixed in-house catering model. Couples work with recommended catering suppliers, while the venue provides the behind-the-scenes setup needed for professional service across the estate.
Caterers have access to a walk-through triple-car garage with a commercial fridge, three-bin sink, flower fridge and preparation space. This makes the venue particularly well suited to outdoor dining, multi-part celebrations and larger setups that need both atmosphere and practical support.
Drinks service has its own character here. The speakeasy bar and two-storey open-air outdoor bar create distinctive focal points, with wine fridges, beer taps, a dishwasher, sink and ice maker already installed. Combined with mountain-view patios, garden spaces and the long outdoor dining setup, food and drink feel woven into the wider rhythm of the estate rather than confined to one reception room.
