Roxani Estate

Roxani Estate sits inland in the Apokoronas region of Chania, near the village of Armenoi, behind a high stone wall. At its centre stands a pale two-storey residence linked to the Skordilis family and the Venetian period, with a terracotta roof, shuttered windows and a ground-floor loggia of arched doorways. Lawns run out towards cypress and old poplars, and a small stone chapel stands within the grounds.

What gives Roxani Estate its character is enclosure set against open country. Inside the wall, the estate is all garden: mown lawn, lantana and rosemary, a stream running beneath the poplars. Beyond it, olive-covered hills climb towards the grey ridges of the White Mountains. As a wedding venue in Crete, Roxani Estate feels secluded, green and quietly historic, a walled garden with the island’s mountains as its backdrop.
